Attention all coaches and parents that are considering becoming a coach.

USA Football has a certification clinic on June 8th that we highly suggest that you attend.

USA Football will once again be hosting a coach certification clinic in collaboration with the Green Bay Packers Coaching School on Sunday, June 8. Please share with coaches in your league as this is a great opportunity for them to fulfill their 2025 USA Football Tackle Certification requirements.


In addition, the Packers will be reimbursing each registered coach that attends!

Location: Lambeau Field & Don Hutson Center

Cost: $25

During the clinic, USA Football Master Trainers will work with coaches on the following topics:

  • Health and Safety (Concussions, Heat & Hydration, Sudden Cardiac Arrest)

  • Abuse Prevention

  • Practical Coaching & Team Management

  • Principals of Contact (Shoulder Tackling, Block & Block Defeat, Equipment Fitting)

 

Coaches attending the event will have the opportunity to engage with USA Football Master Trainers and Wisconsin high school and college coaches through various on and off the field presentations, as well as hear from a Packers keynote speaker. Lunch will also be provided for all attendees, and organizations that have 4 or more coaches register and have 100% attendance will be entered to win one of two $1,000 equipment grants through a drawing held at the end of the clinic.

Duties of the Coaches

Head Coach 

  • Primary Leader on the field, both on game day and during practice. 

  • Responsible for the safety and activity that involves the children and coaches. 

  • Final authority for all matters pertaining to the proper execution and implementation of the MHBYF program as it is outlined in the league by-laws and rules. 

  • Design a chain of command (offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, etc.) determined by the overall needs of each. 

  • Plan, organize, implement and direct all team and individual practice/game activities. 

  • Coordinate the development of winning attitudes, fundamental skills, team and individual discipline,  and sportsmanship. 

  • Adhere to the coaching philosophies, requirements and guidelines set forth by the MHBYF Committee.

  • Responsible for reporting any misconduct and disciplinary actions to the MHBYF Committee.

Assistant Coach 

  • Carry out any assignments and duties delegated by the Head Coach. 

  • Assume all authority, responsibility and teaching obligations in the event the Head Coach is not available. 

  • Responsible to read and comply with all directives set forth in the MHBYF Coach Guidelines and game rules set forth by the League. 

  • Instruct each team member fairly and impartially without demonstrating favoritism or unfair discipline to any child, to include their own. 

Team Coordinator

  • Establish lines of communication with parents and/or guardians of team members.

  • Act as a liaison between team coaches and parents.

  • Assist Program Director with weigh-ins. 

  • Assist Equipment Coordinator with equipment hand out and turn in. 

  • Visit the practice field every night when practice is being held to take attendance. 

  • Assist Fundraising/Volunteer Coordinator at MHBYF games and events. 

  • Monitor the compliance of each athlete's physical, required acclimatization, accidents and injuries. 

  • Work closely with coaches throughout the entire season to monitor player accidents and injuries. Ensure physician has given written clearance before player participation resumes.
